Our Car!
I said in a mass email that I was going to blog about the car the Lord provided for us and so I shall. A few weekends ago we test drove a 1996 Toyota Carina. We really liked it and after Sam and his skillful "how low can we get this guy to go" game was over we agreed to bring the man $1,500 on Monday. On Monday I went to the bank, got the cash, met the guy and the following took place. Doug told me about the small problem with the A/C that it had only happend to him once before until the day we test drove it. Now he knows how important A/C is in Japan and wants to be sure it's working before he leaves the country in 3 weeks. So we took it to the auto shop on base to see if they could find anything. Nothing. (The trick is that it only has the problem after the car has been sitting in the sun for a long period of time, which causes the AC to stop working well.) The plan - bring the car back on Wednesday and sit it in the sun at the autoshop all day and see if we can make the problem come back so they can try to fix it. Well the Lord was good to us yet again and the day was sunny and the problem came back. Now the auto shop couldn't fix it and needed to take it out into town and have a Japanese company work on it. So, long story ends with me getting the car back on Thursday afternoon in perfect working order and not having to pay the $400 bill because Doug said he wanted to take care of the problem. We felt very blessed to do business with a man with such integrity. Some of you might think "oh well maybe you should have payed half the bill"...but we felt if we knew the A/C wasn't working right there would have been no way we would have bought the car in the first place. We really have been blessed in so many ways!!! God continues to be good to us.
